The idea began percolating, said Dan Price, the founder of Gravity Payments, after he read an article on happiness. It showed that, for people who earn less than about $70,000, extra money makes a big difference in their lives.
His idea bubbled into reality on Monday afternoon, when Mr. Price surprised his 120-person staff by announcing that he planned over the next three years to raise the salary of even the lowest-paid clerk, customer service representative and salesman to a minimum of $70,000.
“Is anyone else freaking out right now?” Mr. Price asked after the clapping and whooping died down into a few moments of stunned silence. “I’m kind of freaking out.”
If it’s a publicity stunt, it’s a costly one. Mr. Price, who started the Seattle-based credit-card payment processing firm in 2004 at the age of 19, said he would pay for the wage increases by cutting his own salary from nearly $1 million to $70,000 and using 75 to 80 percent of the company’s anticipated $2.2 million in profit this year.

The paychecks of about 70 employees will grow, with 30 ultimately doubling their salaries, according to Ryan Pirkle, a company spokesman. The average salary at Gravity is $48,000 year.
Mr. Price’s small, privately owned company is by no means a bellwether, but his unusual proposal does speak to an economic issue that has captured national attention: The disparity between the soaring pay of chief executives and that of their employees.
The United States has one of the world’s largest pay gaps, with chief executives earning nearly 300 times what the average worker makes, according to some economists’ estimates. That is much higher than the 20-to-1 ratio recommended by Gilded Age magnates like J. Pierpont Morgan and the 20th century management visionary Peter Drucker.
“The market rate for me as a C.E.O. compared to a regular person is ridiculous, it’s absurd,” said Mr. Price, who said his main extravagances were snowboarding and picking up the bar bill. He drives a 12-year-old Audi, which he received in a barter for service from the local dealer.
“As much as I’m a capitalist, there is nothing in the market that is making me do it,” he said, referring to paying wages that make it possible for his employees to go after the American dream, buy a house and pay for their children’s education.
Under a financial overhaul passed by Congress in 2010, the Securities and Exchange Commission was supposed to require all publicly held companies to disclose the ratio of C.E.O. pay to the median pay of all other employees, but it has so far failed to put it in effect. Corporate executives have vigorously opposed the idea, complaining it would be cumbersome and costly to implement.
Mr. Price started the company, which processed $6.5 billion in transactions for more than 12,000 businesses last year, in his dorm room at Seattle Pacific University with seed money from his older brother. The idea struck him a few years earlier when he was playing in a rock band at a local coffee shop. The owner started having trouble with the company that was processing credit card payments and felt ground down by the large fees charged.
When Mr. Price looked into it for her, he realized he could do it more cheaply and efficiently with better customer service.
The entrepreneurial spirit was omnipresent where he grew up in rural southwestern Idaho, where his family lived 30 miles from the closest grocery store and he was home-schooled until the age of 12. When one of Mr. Price’s four brothers started a make-your-own baseball card business, 9-year-old Dan went on a local radio station to make a pitch: “Hi. I’m Dan Price. I’d like to tell you about my brother’s business, Personality Plus.”
His father, Ron Price, is a consultant and motivational speaker who has written his own book on business leadership.
Dan Price came close to closing up shop himself in 2008 when the recession sent two of his biggest clients into bankruptcy, eliminating 20 percent of his revenue in the space of two weeks. He said the firm managed to struggle through without layoffs or raising prices. His staff, most of them young, stuck with him.

Mr. Price said he wasn’t seeking to score political points with his plan. From his friends, he heard stories of how tough it was to make ends meet even on salaries that were still well-above the federal minimum of $7.25 an hour.
“They were walking me through the math of making 40 grand a year,” he said, then describing a surprise rent increase or nagging credit card debt.
“I hear that every single week,” he added. “That just eats at me inside.”
Mr. Price said he wanted to do something to address the issue of inequality, although his proposal “made me really nervous” because he wanted to do it without raising prices for his customers or cutting back on service.
Of all the social issues that he felt he was in a position to do something about as a business leader, “that one seemed like a more worthy issue to go after.”
He said he planned to keep his own salary low until the company earned back the profit it had before the new wage scale went into effect.
Hayley Vogt, a 24-year-old communications coordinator at Gravity who earns $45,000, said, “I’m completely blown away right now.” She said she has worried about covering rent increases and a recent emergency room bill.
“Everyone is talking about this $15 minimum wage in Seattle and it’s nice to work someplace where someone is actually doing something about it and not just talking about it,” she said.
The happiness research behind Mr. Price’s announcement on Monday came from Angus Deaton and Daniel Kahneman, a Nobel Prize-winning psychologist. They found that what they called emotional well-being — defined as “the emotional quality of an individual’s everyday experience, the frequency and intensity of experiences of joy, stress, sadness, anger, and affection that make one’s life pleasant or unpleasant” — rises with income, but only to a point. And that point turns out to be about $75,000 a year.
Of course, money above that level brings pleasures — there’s no denying the delights of a Caribbean cruise or a pair of diamond earrings — but no further gains on the emotional well-being scale.
As Mr. Kahneman has explained it, income above the threshold doesn’t buy happiness, but a lack of money can deprive you of it.
Phillip Akhavan, 29, earns $43,000 working on the company’s merchant relations team. “My jaw just dropped,” he said. “This is going to make a difference to everyone around me.”
At that moment, no Princeton researchers were needed to figure out he was feeling very happy.
Using ultra-violet (UV) light, scientists have revealed astonishing colors of about 30 ancient seashells. According to PLOS, the seashells, which are estimated to be between 6.6 and 4.8 million years old, were looking white in regular white light. The true colors of the shells appeared in UV light.
According to the researchers, “The biology of modern Conidae (cone snails)-which includes the hyperdiverse genus Conus-has been intensively studied, but the fossil record of the clade remains poorly understood, particularly within an evolutionary framework”.
In the presence of UV light, the organic matter remaining in the shells fluoresces. With this, the shells appeared similar to what they looked when living creatures used to live in them. It is yet unclear which particular compounds in the shells are releasing the light when exposed to UV rays. With the help of the technique, the researchers were able to document the coloration patterns of 28 different cone shell species found in the Dominican Republic. Out of these 28 shells, 13 were found to be the species, which were not known earlier. And this could help know about the relationship between modern species.
San Jose State University geologist Jonathan Hendricks exposed over 350 fossil specimens to ultraviolet light.
The coloration patterns of the ancient species were compared with existing animals and doing this, researchers found many displayed similarities. According to this finding, some modern species emerge from lineages. These lineages began in the Caribbean millions of years ago.
The newly distinguished species, Conus carlottae, was also among the newly distinguished species and it has a polka-dotted shell, which is not found in modern cone snails today. Researchers are now using UV light to emit color from porcelain white seashell fossils.

March is a month of seeming contradiction. You are perhaps familiar
with the adage that March “comes in like a lion and out like a lamb”?
This is a reference to weather but could also be applied to the winds of
change permeating your very existence. In other words, what appears
calm on the surface is seething and roiling underneath, and what appears
chaotic is in actuality forming a new, more stable foundation.
Let us examine our
theme of Chaos. When defined, one finds that chaos is in actuality quite
structured. In other words, it is unpredictability within a highly
defined and perhaps rigid set of rules. Would you not say that this is
your world, in part? In your universe there are certain rules within
which, at times, there is certain unpredictability. Even the very
appearance of individuals within the human race is subject to this:
there is a general set of ‘rules’ (DNA structure, for example) within
which there are endless – and seemingly unpredictable – variations.
Chromosomal abnormalities. Cancer markers that are never triggered into
actual cancer. Endless variations in size, color, personality and other
peculiarities of the human manifestation that don’t seem subject to any
rules. This is the hallmark of your world – this seeming contradiction –
yet many of you have endless difficulty with the fluidity of choices
available to you at any given time.
This seeming contradiction is part of what is going to be becoming
stronger and more apparent as time goes by. How will this manifest in
ways easily perceivable?
Physical manifestation of energetic chaos
1. Increased weather “events”. We have talked before
about climate changes and extreme weather, have we not? You may expect,
subject to region, further such extreme events over many areas, some
widespread. Drought is beginning this month across parts of India,
Africa, and the southwestern part of the US. At the same time, extra
precipitation is expected across much of western and southern Europe,
the South Pacific, the central and Eastern US, the Caribbean, and much
of South America. This precipitation could arise in the form of
hurricane-like weather. Or other extreme events.
2. Earthquakes and volcanic activity. As above, so
below. Look for increased visibility and awareness of Pacific Rim
(especially the South Pacific, also possibly Alaska) activity this month
as well as isolated earthquakes in areas not generally known for them
(central US, eastern Europe). It is likely that a fairly devastating
quake takes place in a populated area within the next 60-90 days.
3. Discoveries of genetic aberrations or new species
are likely to be found in the animal kingdom. Animals and plants are,
of course, subject to this chaotic energy as are people and the earth as
a whole. While it is true that the animals, plant, and mineral kingdoms
respond to such change with greater apparent aplomb, change affects
all. What will be likely, then, are overt and tangible effects to the
energetic shifts, resulting the “new” species, flocks of “deformed”
species found regionally, or other similar discoveries.
Intrapersonal manifestation of energetic chaos
1. People “snapping.” This can be on a low level
(increased arguments between spouses and children) or on a wider level
(employees ‘going postal’, random attacks, mob situations, etc). It can
be helpful to remember that this is occurring worldwide, not just in
your neighborhood, and that the statistical likelihood of being a part
of such an occurrence is relatively low. If this is a fear for you,
please try the following:
Standing near a table or waist high
horizontal surface, stand with feet hip width apart while your hands
rest on this surface.
Take a moment to breathe and
remember your particular fears surrounding this potential occurrence.
Imagine while you do so that the charkas in your hands and feet are
opening fully to embrace the energy of your planet: your home, the
Earth.
Feel the enormous loving energy
pouring in to you now through your hands and feet. Your hands may feel
warm and tingling. Feel the pulsating aliveness of your planet, the
place you call home and that you, along with billions of others, are
creating. Feel the love inherent in this energy of your creation. Feel
the safety inherent in this energy of your creation.
Draw this energy, along with the
live connected to it, up through your hands, feet, arms, and legs. Allow
the energy to meet and mix in your root chakra. Feel your center of
consciousness drop a few inches as you do so. Feel any tightness on your
heart area now dissipate. Feel the immense sense of perpetual, eternal
safety wrap your being in a soft, warm blanket. Feel how this sense of
safety was created by you, along with billions of others, in the
creation of your world as you know it to be. Remember that you carry
with you a bubble that includes this sense of safety and protection.
Feel it now and rest in your
ability to re-create this sense any time you wish.
2. Relationship hurdles. This is a huge month of
growth for people involved in all sorts of relationships. Long-held
patterns may be released this month. Expect things to re-surface so they
can be released.
Welcome these issues rather than attempting to submerge them again.
Those who are less self-aware will have greater difficulties
relationship-wise this month, but if it is your practice to be aware of
these patterns, then you should have little difficulty allowing them to
simply drift away into the winds of change that surround you.
Understanding, too, that any seeming surface disruption is for many a
sign of healing underneath that is long-lasting and permanent in nature.
This relates to all sorts pf relationships, from intimate connections
to family dynamics to work relationships, as well as the relationship to
Self that each of you possesses. Again, look for outward conflict as a
sign of inner healing and change.
3. Spiritual depth. For those of you seeking greater
self awareness, this is a month in which you can easily accelerate your
growth. We would caution against becoming stuck in linear terms to
describe such growth (‘evolving’, ‘moving forward’, ‘ascension’, etc),
but at the same time there are exponential possibilities this month that
will allow you great enhancement of whatever path you are presently
choosing and such terms can be useful in this manner.
Practices to assist in flowing with, not against, the energy of
Chaos
You can, of course, enhance your sensation of flow in relation to the
energy that is around you at this time. This is not, of course, to
allow you to “control” your experience or outcome, but is more designed
to help you feel movement in a pleasurable way.
1. Practice an energy movement exercise. This could
be tai chi, qigung, or some forms of yoga or meditation – anything where
energy is consciously and deliberately moved through the body. This is
very much a month in which to let go of conscious thought and allow your
other wisdom (of the body, of the soul) to surface. Even if you have
mental resistance against such exercises – and we would suggest daily
use to enhance the effects – this is a case where “just doing it” is the
most helpful approach. A side benefit, of course, is that after 30 days
of such practice is becomes a habit, which in our perception would only
continue to be beneficial.
2. Drink water. More than ever, this is an important
practice. Pure, filtered water, preferably from a source local to you,
is best. A liter per 50 pounds of body weight.
3. Breathe. Again, this is such a basic practice
that is welcome at any time. Try simply breathing as fully as possible
when you first awaken. Not only are you more relaxed at this time,
making it easier to actually “get” a full, deep breath, but it will help
create the tone for the day and energize and fully awaken your body.
Spending 3-4 minutes in contemplative, deep breathing upon awakening
will greatly enhance your abilities to flow with this month’s energy.
In addition to these practices, we suggest going within to seek
answers to long-held questions. We are, of course, available to those
who seek our advice and will continue to make our presence known to an
ever-increasing number, but we also support your abilities to seek the
inner guidance that is always inside you.

Once upon a moon, when I was a much younger
woman, Spirit guided me to undertake a pilgrimage from the States,
where I was residing, to Belize, the land of my birth. During that life
altering journey and travel, I was led to settle on a small island off
the coast of mainland Belize, named Caye Caulker. This beautiful island
inhabited by approximately 1800, mostly traditional, Catholic, Mestizo,
people held absolutely no light in the mass consciousness of the
villagers. I came to slowly understood, though, that Spirit’s will was
for me to remain in this particular community as the “holder” and
“bringer”of the light. I have done Spirit’s will, with my immediate
family (all of whom are angelic souls) for over 14 years of our lives.
It has never been easy.
In fact, here is a typical example of
my life onthe island… One year I decided to teach in the newly founded
high school to create some goodwill in the community. One of the
classes I taught was yoga for physical education. I had been branded a
witch many times in Caye Caulker. Teaching yoga only seemed to
reinforce the local viewpoint that I was indeed practicing witchcraft.
Thank goodness, my boss and the high school principal supported my class
100% and backed our position with FACTS. Together we overcame the
local beliefs and by the end of the year, the students were teaching
their parents stress reducing poses.
I have continually and
painstakingly engaged with the community’s extreme superstitions, obeah (
a form of black magic used to bring harm to another), and all other low
level forms of energetic interactions (alcoholism, domestic violence,
drug addiction, machismo behaviours and emotional & sexual abuses)
over the years, while at the same time attempting to create and maintain
my own piece of heaven. I cannot emphasize enough- it has been a
daunting task. Nonetheless, it was my purpose, a clear directive from
the Ancestors and the Star Elders, so I undertook my role with due
diligence and compassion. Arriving in full force to assist me in this
community were the magical elementals, the standing people (the trees
and plants), and the cool blues and turquoises of Yemeya’s salty
Caribbean Sea, who have been my friends, my allies and my protectors in
this place which holds such extremes of darkness and light.
I
understand that many lightworkers have been guided to various geographic
areas to do Spirit’s work in these auspicious times on Earth. I also
understand that we can no longer maintain and sustain our realities
without a seriously strong support network. The Gods have encouraged me
to create “Celestun”, a heavenly place of light.
A place where lightworkers, healers, and conscious individuals can
retreat and rejuvenate. It is my intention to expand my current island
business, www.cocoplum.typepad.com, to create
this much needed place and vision. I can no longer be one of the few
people in this part of the Caribbean holding the light. I need
assistance. I send out a request to any interested individual(s) to
please join me in co-creating Celestun if they feel so compelled. I
invite any of my readers to visit my little english speaking island in
the region of Central America on the Caribbean Sea in the country of

Allow me to return to discussing
this eminent Earth birth which was the topic of my last post,
“Surrender”. In the latter part of a woman’s pregnancy, early
contractions called Braxton-Hicks, will begin to occur. These
contractions prepare a woman’s body for the actual birth and it allows
her body to understand, in mild form, what the real contractions will
feel like once they commence to start. The Earth has begun her
Braxton-Hicks and on one of the latest contractions (Chile Earthquake)
her axis tipped and time sped up. Wow! We are definitely about to move
and groove in this pregnancy, hence the Turkey earthquake. On the
night preceding this movement, I couldn’t sleep a wink. All the dogs in
my neighborhood felt the same as they howled and moaned the night
away. It was another huge release of energy for the earth. Yes, the
Earth herself is cracking open! Be aware and prepared,
all those who live on the fault lines, your time is drawing near.
Everytime I go into meditation, I feel the low rumbles of the Earth
quaking. At fist, I feel fear, and then, I surrender to the force of
the earth, and lastly, I breathe calm into the land. If you can find
this serenity inside your body, you can actually transmit it through
your feet into the ground. If enough people are sending a peaceful
message to the land, then a community can control their surroundings and
their contractions.
The earthquakes are not our only
concern/movements these days. If you listen to the world news it is
simply overwhelming, between the natural disasters (another large
glacier broke off, denying oxygen to the seas and their creatures) and
the manmade violence (the babies and toddlers slaughtered in Nigeria in
the name of religious intolerance), I simply sit back and wait on the
forceful volcanic eruptions sure to follow (notice Celia Fenn discusses
her friends in Chile and the oozing volcanic lava in her March earthlog)…sigh, cry…do not
become immune to the information...so
many souls have agreed to depart or suffer in these times so as to
assure that all others will keep their hearts wide open.
The
death of the old reality is so obvious. We will never return to a
reality that hoards possessions. We will never return to a reality that
enslaves another. At present though, the oligarchy assumes the same
viewpoint it has had for the last 10,000 years: population control of
the enslaved masses, while they wield and control the resources of the
Earth. The oligarchy will have to fall into one of those large cracks
the earth creates to make room for the compassionate souls and new
leaders who wish to create our harmonious Earth.
Lately, I am
constantly receiving a vision of teepees (I conjure up my friends
gorgeous Earth Ship home in Taos, New Mexico). The teepee has many
symbolic meanings. Firstly, Spirit is asking everyone once again to
simplify. Just as a woman will prepare her house for a new baby, we are
being guided to prepare our teepees to be uncluttered, beautiful home
dwellings that are fulfilling and life-giving. Create an energetically
clean space that is ready to welcome a new-born baby. Secondly, a
teepee for the Native Americans was transportable. If the tribe felt
danger or uncertainty, they could pack up their teepees and relocate.
Life itself is very fragile. A natural disaster can wipe out your
entire existence, your home and all your possessions without much
notice, so over-attachment to anything is simply not healthy. I
reiterate Aluna Joy and the Star Elders message, “you can’t take
anything with you but your love and your truth”. Live lightly!
Thirdly, a teepee represents the material and our ability to manifest.
It is the Lakota symbol for wealth and well-being. If you are
currently hoarding possessions or carrying too heavy of a material load;
let it go. Get to your teepee!
Practice, even if it is just
once in your life, the great give-away. In the early 1900’s, the US
government outlawed the Native American pot-latch ceremony (the
give-away), as they could not understand how such “poor’ people would
give away all their possessions. It was disconcerting for the
white-Eurocentric mind who believes in collecting/hoarding/saving
possessions, so they made it illegal. The give-away teaches us to
release, without attachment, our greatest possessions and it teaches us
above all else, that the earth is eternally fertile and all our needs
will be provided for again and again through the community. Whenever
one feels lack, of anything, Spirit counsels giving away a valued
possession. Are you in need of health? Give-away! Are you in need of
love? Give-away! Are you in need of money? Give-away! Through the
eternal spiritual laws of energy and return, all ones needs will be met.
Take a look at the community around you? What can you give-away to
help ease the burden of another? Do you have a community that will
support you? A group of like-minded individuals that care about your
well-being? Do you have your own personal Celestun, heavenly
place of light? If not, it is crucial at this
moment to form some sort of network. Be it on the internet, a sacred
moon circle or your collective neighborhood. We have heard over and
over again that we must come together in conscious community. Now, more
than ever. Presently, Carl Calleman is calling for a Conscious
Convergence (July 17-18, 2010) of lightworkers to prepare for the last
stages of our pregnancy. The old ship is going down , the S.O.S. has
been fired. We are approaching the ninth and final wave of the Mayan
Calendar Evolutionary Theory- the cosmic unity consciousness.
The only survivors, the true thrivers of the New World, will be the ones
who have learned to share and care, the ones who have learned to live
in unity.

Celestun – A Heavenly Place of Light

Once upon a moon, when I was a much younger woman, Spirit guided me to undertake a pilgrimage from the States, where I was residing, to Belize, the land of my birth. During that life altering journey and travel, I was led to settle on a small island off the coast of mainland Belize, named Caye Caulker. This beautiful island inhabited by approximately 1800, mostly traditional, Catholic, Mestizo, people held absolutely no light in the mass consciousness of the villagers. I came to slowly understood, though, that Spirit’s will was for me to remain in this particular community as the “holder” and “bringer”of the light. I have done Spirit’s will, with my immediate family (all of whom are angelic souls) for over 14 years of our lives. It has never been easy.
In fact, here is a typical example of my life onthe island… One year I decided to teach in the newly founded high school to create some goodwill in the community. One of the classes I taught was yoga for physical education. I had been branded a witch many times in Caye Caulker. Teaching yoga only seemed to reinforce the local viewpoint that I was indeed practicing witchcraft. Thank goodness, my boss and the high school principal supported my class 100% and backed our position with FACTS. Together we overcame the local beliefs and by the end of the year, the students were teaching their parents stress reducing poses.
I have continually and painstakingly engaged with the community’s extreme superstitions, obeah ( a form of black magic used to bring harm to another), and all other low level forms of energetic interactions (alcoholism, domestic violence, drug addiction, machismo behaviours and emotional & sexual abuses) over the years, while at the same time attempting to create and maintain my own piece of heaven. I cannot emphasize enough- it has been a daunting task. Nonetheless, it was my purpose, a clear directive from the Ancestors and the Star Elders, so I undertook my role with due diligence and compassion. Arriving in full force to assist me in this community were the magical elementals, the standing people (the trees and plants), and the cool blues and turquoises of Yemeya’s salty Caribbean Sea, who have been my friends, my allies and my protectors in this place which holds such extremes of darkness and light.
I understand that many lightworkers have been guided to various geographic areas to do Spirit’s work in these auspicious times on Earth. I also understand that we can no longer maintain and sustain our realities without a seriously strong support network. The Gods have encouraged me to create “Celestun”, a heavenly place of light. A place where lightworkers, healers, and conscious individuals can retreat and rejuvenate. It is my intention to expand my current island business, www.cocoplum.typepad.com, to create this much needed place and vision. I can no longer be one of the few people in this part of the Caribbean holding the light. I need assistance. I send out a request to any interested individual(s) to please join me in co-creating Celestun if they feel so compelled. I invite any of my readers to visit my little english speaking island in the region of Central America on the Caribbean Sea in the country of Belize. Enough said.

Allow me to return to discussing this eminent Earth birth which was the topic of my last post, “Surrender”. In the latter part of a woman’s pregnancy, early contractions called Braxton-Hicks, will begin to occur. These contractions prepare a woman’s body for the actual birth and it allows her body to understand, in mild form, what the real contractions will feel like once they commence to start. The Earth has begun her Braxton-Hicks and on one of the latest contractions (Chile Earthquake) her axis tipped and time sped up. Wow! We are definitely about to move and groove in this pregnancy, hence the Turkey earthquake. On the night preceding this movement, I couldn’t sleep a wink. All the dogs in my neighborhood felt the same as they howled and moaned the night away. It was another huge release of energy for the earth. Yes, the Earth herself is cracking open! Be aware and prepared, all those who live on the fault lines, your time is drawing near. Everytime I go into meditation, I feel the low rumbles of the Earth quaking. At fist, I feel fear, and then, I surrender to the force of the earth, and lastly, I breathe calm into the land. If you can find this serenity inside your body, you can actually transmit it through your feet into the ground. If enough people are sending a peaceful message to the land, then a community can control their surroundings and their contractions.
The earthquakes are not our only concern/movements these days. If you listen to the world news it is simply overwhelming, between the natural disasters (another large glacier broke off, denying oxygen to the seas and their creatures) and the manmade violence (the babies and toddlers slaughtered in Nigeria in the name of religious intolerance), I simply sit back and wait on the forceful volcanic eruptions sure to follow (notice Celia Fenn discusses her friends in Chile and the oozing volcanic lava in her March earthlog)… sigh, cry…do not become immune to the information...so many souls have agreed to depart or suffer in these times so as to assure that all others will keep their hearts wide open.
The death of the old reality is so obvious. We will never return to a reality that hoards possessions. We will never return to a reality that enslaves another. At present though, the oligarchy assumes the same viewpoint it has had for the last 10,000 years: population control of the enslaved masses, while they wield and control the resources of the Earth. The oligarchy will have to fall into one of those large cracks the earth creates to make room for the compassionate souls and new leaders who wish to create our harmonious Earth.
Lately, I am constantly receiving a vision of teepees (I conjure up my friends gorgeous Earth Ship home in Taos, New Mexico). The teepee has many symbolic meanings. Firstly, Spirit is asking everyone once again to simplify. Just as a woman will prepare her house for a new baby, we are being guided to prepare our teepees to be uncluttered, beautiful home dwellings that are fulfilling and life-giving. Create an energetically clean space that is ready to welcome a new-born baby. Secondly, a teepee for the Native Americans was transportable. If the tribe felt danger or uncertainty, they could pack up their teepees and relocate. Life itself is very fragile. A natural disaster can wipe out your entire existence, your home and all your possessions without much notice, so over-attachment to anything is simply not healthy. I reiterate Aluna Joy and the Star Elders message, “you can’t take anything with you but your love and your truth”. Live lightly! Thirdly, a teepee represents the material and our ability to manifest. It is the Lakota symbol for wealth and well-being. If you are currently hoarding possessions or carrying too heavy of a material load; let it go. Get to your teepee!
Practice, even if it is just once in your life, the great give-away. In the early 1900’s, the US government outlawed the Native American pot-latch ceremony (the give-away), as they could not understand how such “poor’ people would give away all their possessions. It was disconcerting for the white-Eurocentric mind who believes in collecting/hoarding/saving possessions, so they made it illegal. The give-away teaches us to release, without attachment, our greatest possessions and it teaches us above all else, that the earth is eternally fertile and all our needs will be provided for again and again through the community. Whenever one feels lack, of anything, Spirit counsels giving away a valued possession. Are you in need of health? Give-away! Are you in need of love? Give-away! Are you in need of money? Give-away! Through the eternal spiritual laws of energy and return, all ones needs will be met.
Take a look at the community around you? What can you give-away to help ease the burden of another? Do you have a community that will support you? A group of like-minded individuals that care about your well-being? Do you have your own personal Celestun, heavenly place of light? If not, it is crucial at this moment to form some sort of network. Be it on the internet, a sacred moon circle or your collective neighborhood. We have heard over and over again that we must come together in conscious community. Now, more than ever. Presently, Carl Calleman is calling for a Conscious Convergence (July 17-18, 2010) of lightworkers to prepare for the last stages of our pregnancy. The old ship is going down , the S.O.S. has been fired. We are approaching the ninth and final wave of the Mayan Calendar Evolutionary Theory- the cosmic unity consciousness. The only survivors, the true thrivers of the New World, will be the ones who have learned to share and care, the ones who have learned to live in unity.
