Headline #1: Richard Branson Survived Hurricane Irma Holed Up In Concrete Wine Cellar
Synopsis: Billionaire entrepreneur Richard Branson survived Hurricane Irma barreling over his private islands by hunkering down in his wine cellar. “All of the team who stayed on Necker and Moskito during the hurricane are safe and well. We took shelter from the strongest hurricane ever inside the concrete cellar on Necker and very, very fortunately it held firm.” But Branson marveled at the aftermath. “I have never seen anything like this hurricane. Necker and the whole area have been completely and utterly devastated. We are still assessing the damage, but whole houses and trees have disappeared. Outside of the bunker, bathroom and bedroom doors and windows have flown 40 feet away,”
Headline #2: See Mercury and Regulus–Below Venus?
Synopsis: This weekend, try to catch Mercury in the morning sky. Mercury is sometimes called the most elusive planet because it always stays near the sun in the sky. Right now, you’ll have the best luck spotting Mercury if you’re in the Northern Hemisphere. Southern Hemisphere observers might see the planet, too, but it’ll be much harder because Mercury will stay lower in the sky before sunrise. Mercury will reach its greatest morning elongation from the sun – its greatest distance from the sun on the sky’s dome – on September 12.
Headline #3: 8.1 Earthquake Strikes Mexico: Produces Flashes of Light
Synopsis: A magnitude 8.1 earthquake that recently struck Mexico triggered strange flashes of bright light that spilled across Mexico. These green and blue flashes of light are an unusual phenomenon associated with large earthquakes. Earthquake lights have been reported many times in the past with explanations related to tectonic stresses and seismic activity. However, there is also reason to believe that in some of these instances it is simply a power supply being destroyed. Often times it’s difficult to determine the exact sources of these lights, as is the case recently in Mexico.
Headline #4: Mysterious Lights Appear in Mexico Sky During Massive Earthquake
Synopsis: Mysterious lights appeared in the Mexican sky during Friday’s massive earthquake.The quake, which registered a level of 8.4, killed dozens and was the strongest in a century, was accompanied by flashes of green and blue lights shooting throughout the night sky. According to a Google Translate version of an El Universal story, the lights are a naturally occurring electro-magnetic charge, caused by the collapse of the rocks in the ground during the earthquake. In the past, the lights have often been confused with UFOs, but scientist Friedmann Freud discounted that fact. “In the past, people often interpreted [earthquake lights] in religious terms, and in modern times they thought of UFOs, although there is a completely rational physical explanation that we are working on,” he told National Geographic. Freud is employed as a scientist for NASA.
Headline #5: The Owlman of Mawnan, Cornwall
Synopsis: The Owlman, sometimes referred to as the Cornish Owlman, or the Owlman of Mawnan, is a purported cryptid that was supposedly sighted around mid-1976 in the village of Mawnan, Cornwall. The Owlman is sometimes compared to the Mothman, first seen in 1960’s America. The rural town of Mawnan rests in the south of Cornwall in the south-west of England, an area of the country teeming with supernatural fare, from monstrous black dogs to sea serpents to devilish imps. A town notable for little else than a couple of churches, it attracts a smattering of holiday-makers due to it being situated in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Headline #6: Black Triangle Sighting in Henderson, Nevada
Synopsis: I was photographing electrical storms and at 10:42 p.m. my location was at Cornerstone Park in Henderson; I was facing south looking onto the horizon of the city of Boulder, Nevada; my camera has a slight elevation and I could see with the range of elevation from zero degrees to about sixty-five degrees but I never saw the object until I was editing my photographs–the object is a triangle-shape and appears to have a ‘head light’; the craft was all lit up in ultra-violet color–the craft blended well with the black clouds–I do wear glasses, but mainly for driving, so I didn’t spot it–I was not wearing them while photographing these images.
