Headline #1: The Moon’s Near Side Is It’s Dark Side
Synopsis: Tonight – September 30, 2017 – see if you can make out the dark areas on tonight’s waxing gibbous moon. These smooth, low-lying lunar plains are called mare (singular) or maria (plural), the Latin words for sea or seas. You should be able to see the darkened portions on the moon with the eye alone. This collection of lunar plains – the solidified remnants of ancient seas of molten magma – actually makes the near side of the moon reflect less light than the far side does, which lacks the maria. So, in terms of reflectivity, the moon’s near side is its darker side.
Headline #2: Elon Musk Updates SpaceX’s Mars Colony Plan At International Astronautical Congress 2017
Synopsis: Now we know how Elon Musk plans to get 1 million people to Mars. At a conference in Mexico today on September 27th, the SpaceX founder and CEO unveiled the company’s Interplanetary Transport System (ITS), which will combine the most powerful rocket ever built with a spaceship designed to carry at least 100 people to the Red Planet per flight. If all goes according to plan, the reusable ITS will help humanity establish a permanent, self-sustaining colony on the Red Planet within the next 50 to 100 years, Musk said at the International Astronautical Congress in Guadalajara. “What I really want to do here is to make Mars seem possible — make it seem as though it’s something that we could do in our lifetimes, and that you can go,” he said.
Headline #3: Dubai Is Building a Mock Martian City
Synopsis: Someday, you could take a flying taxi from Dubai to a Martian city in the middle of the desert right here on Earth. In preparation for its plans to establish a settlement on the red planet, the United Arab Emirates has announced that it’s building a 1.9 million square feet simulated Mars settlement. It will be called Mars Science City and will serve as home to interconnected domes housing various laboratories simulating the planet’s terrain. The team building the structure plans to use advanced 3D printing techniques and heat and radiation insulation to mimic the harsh environment of our neighbor.
Headline #4: Alien Hunters Discover ‘UFO Highway’ Across America
Synopsis: A brother and sister alien hunting team have discovered a “UFO highway” across America along which hundreds of unexplained events have taken place – from cattle mutilations to alien abductions. Chuck Zukowski and Debbie Ziegelmeyer have spent years travelling across the US investigating hundreds of UFO sightings and other paranormal occurrences. It was during one cattle mutilation investigation that Chuck realised that many of the unexplained events he had looked into had taken place on the 37th latitude.
Headline #5: Grey Humanoid ‘Disappears’ From Chicago Downtown Roof/Lon Strickler
Synopsis: ‘I’m a former Chicagoan and I was on a visit last week. I stayed a night downtown at Sofitel Chicago Magnificent Mile –20 Esdt Chestnut St. During the early evening, I looked out our window from the 30th floor and saw what I, at the time, assumed was a maintenance man or something in the roof of a shorter building below ours. But, it moved too fluidly and disappeared too quickly for a man. It was gray in color and the shape I would definitely describe as a male (with no clothes). I’d say it was about 6 ft. tall. There were no unfurled wings. The thought of it hasn’t left me. I couldn’t see a door or anything that would allow a person to slip out of sight. It was odd to see someone/something on a roof with no rooftop features like a pool or outdoor seating, and it didn’t look like there was any window-washing, construction, etc. that would easily explain why a person was on a high rise roof and then disappear so quickly.’
Headline #6: UFO Sighting in Higginsville, Missouri
Synopsis: On 9-27-17 at approximately 10:15 pm CST, I had taken my dog outside so that she could use the restroom; I’ve gotten into the habit of looking up at night sky, which is what I did, and I noticed what I first thought to be a plane–but this object was blinking red ,blue, green and white lights–the object also seemed to have a smooth, coasting feel to it, maybe due to it not producing any noise; for the steady pace it was moving and for the night sky being so clear, I was surprised that there wasn’t any noise coming from the object; I ran the dog inside and had my wife come outside with me, so she could see also and we observed the flying object, and another one appeared from nowhere–right next to the flying object we were already watching–now there were two…
