Headline #1: Hurricane Irma: Kennedy Space Center Suffered ‘A Variety of Damage’ During Storm Says NASA

Synopsis: NASA’s Kennedy Space Center sustained “a variety of damage” as a result of Hurricane Irma, officials have confirmed. In a blog post Tuesday, NASA said that the Space Center is without water service following the hurricane.” Center Director Bob Cabana joined the center’s Damage Assessment and Recovery Team for a survey of the spaceport Tuesday,” the government agency explained in the post. “A damage assessment report will be compiled over the next several weeks after a full inspection of the center has been conducted.” NASA closed Kennedy Space Center on Sept. 8 before Hurricane Irma hit Florida and only a small team of specialists known as the Rideout Team was at the site during the storm.

Headline #2: Moon and The Twins For Next Few Mornings

Synopsis: On the mornings of September 15 and 16, 2017, you’ll find the stars Castor and Pollux – the zodiacal constellation Gemini the Twins – near the waning crescent moon. They’re up late at night, too, but highest in the sky around dawn. After the moon, Castor and Pollux rise late tonight, they’ll go westward and upward throughout the wee morning hours for the same reason that the sun goes westward and upward after sunrise. The Earth spins eastward beneath the heavens, causing the sun, moon, planets and stars to rise in the east and to set in the west each day. Any celestial object – such as the sun, moon, planet or star – transits (reaches its highest point in the sky) midway between rising and setting.

Headline #3: Three New Crew Members Arrive at International Space Station

Synopsis: After a six-hour flight, NASA astronauts Mark Vande Hei, Joe Acaba and Alexander Misurkin of Roscosmos arrived at the International Space Station at 10:55 p.m. EDT Tuesday, Sept. 12, where they will continue important scientific research. The three crewmates launched aboard the Soyuz MS-06 spacecraft from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan at 5:17 p.m. (3:17 a.m. Baikonur time Wednesday), orbited Earth four times, and docked at the space station. The hatches between the spacecraft and station  opened at 12:40 a.m. Wednesday.

Headline #4: Cassini’s Team Turns Saturn Crash Into Cause For Celebration – And For Science

Synopsis: Twenty years after its launch to Saturn, NASA has set the Cassini orbiter on a course for certain destruction on Friday – but there’s a decidedly positive spin to the $3.3 billion mission’s end. “We’ll be saddened, there’s no doubt about it, at the loss of such an incredible machine,” Cassini program manager Earl Maize said Wednesday during a news briefing at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif. “But I think all of us are going to have a great sense of pride in .. a little bit corny, perhaps … a ‘mission accomplished.’ ” The bus-sized, plutonium-powered spacecraft was launched in 1997 and reached Saturn seven years later. It’s logged 4.9 billion miles, sent back nearly half a million images of the ringed planet and its moons, and transmitted 635 gigabytes worth of scientific data so far.

Headline #5: New Horizons Just Woke Up!

Synopsis: New Horizons will always be known for giving us our first real look at Pluto, but its mission is far from finished. In early 2019, New Horizons will fly past asteroid MU69 and get an up-close look at some of the other mysterious objects in the distant Kuiper Belt. That next step is a long way away, and New Horizons is going to spend most of that time asleep. But this week NASA woke up the spacecraft for the first time in several months to perform some routine maintenance and course corrections. Over the next three days, the New Horizons team will be bringing the spacecraft into “active mode” and ensuring that all the craft’s subsystems come online as scheduled.

Headline #6: UFO Sighting in Amqui, Quebec, Canada

Synopsis: I was smoking outside, I look at the sky as usual– then I see two bright orange lights–and realize that they were moving slowly; they disappear then they reappear ( less than three minutes after ) …so I rushed inside to grab my camera to take pictures–I am accustomed to taking pictures in the night,  I never use the flash–I first try to capture the lights, but while I was moving and nervous I was not happy with the result … then the lights disappear again…

Headline #7: UFO Sighting in Stratford, Connecticut

Synopsis: Object was roughly 500 feet in altitude; dim white lights, gliding silently at very low speed; at 9pm it was impossible to detect any shape and there was no sound what so ever; lights appeared to be 75-100′ apart–the two red lights at aft end were in a vertical line, one above the other and blinking occasionally; the red lights appeared to be 40-50′ apart…this could not have been an aircraft–no green starboard light, no landing light–it seemed too slow to remain airborne.

Headline #8: UFO Sighting in Granite City, Illinois

Synopsis: At the time of the event I was passing the rear door of my home and heard an airplane approaching–this is typical due to being in the flight path of Lambert/St. Louis Airport; I noticed what I thought to be the International Space Station coming up over the tree line–we often spot the Space Station and various satellites from our back yard–however this particular light was larger and more brilliant than that of the Space Station: when the ‘orb’ topped the tree line from my vantage point, it stopped and hovered.
