I don’t need anyone to rectify my existence. The most profound relationship we will ever have is the one with ourselves. Shirley MacLaine

The consuming desire of most human beings is deliberately to plant their whole life in the hands of some other person. I would describe this method of searching for happiness as immature. Development of character consists solely in moving toward self-sufficiency. Quentin Crisp

At work, you think of the children you have left at home. At home, you think of the work you’ve left unfinished. Such a struggle is unleashed within yourself. Your heart is rent. Golda Meir

One of the most obvious facts about grownups to a child is that they have forgotten what it is like to be a child. Randall Jarrell

It is easier for a father to have children than for children to have a real father. Pope John XXIII

If one is not going to take the necessary precautions to avoid having parents one must undertake to bring them up. Quentin Crisp

May's Scorpio full Moon occurs on May 6 in Australia and May 5 in the United States and it is the biggest full Moon of 2012. The energy promises to be very strong – it is a Supermoon. The Sabian Symbol is Scorpio 17: A Woman, Filled With Her Own Spirit, Is The Father Of Her Own Child. From my book The Sabian Oracle: 360 Degrees Of Wisdom:

This situation may reveal the sense or the reality that you need to be totally self-sufficient at the moment, regardless of those around you and their input into your life. Alternatively, there can be the feeling of having been “left with the baby”. It can indicate loneliness, single parenthood or looking after those who can't look after themselves without outside help. This Symbol can indicate the loss of the males in one’s life, such as the husband or father. However, it can also indicate the feeling that one’s life is full enough as it is and the path ahead doesn’t seem to include the desire or the need to have children (or a relationship perhaps). Be wary of isolationist and prohibitive emotions, though. Is there a situation here where others are not being invited to share or be included in your life? How are you coping with the more complicated tasks and chores that you have to get on with in life? Try to include others respectfully, however. Although we are all blessed with our own unique and individual qualities, it is often the combination of ourselves with others that helps to create greater balance and depth in life. Confidence in the future and ‘Filling’ yourself up ‘With Your Own Spirit’ can lead to wonderful possibilities. Creative projects can be birthed more fully when one has an infinite and total connection with what one wants to produce.

Keywords: Single parenthood. Being proud of one’s individuality. Feeling capable of anything. Spiritual experiences that fill one with one’s own spirit. Self-reliance. The lack of a father figure. Invitro fertilization. The complications of adoption. Self sufficiency. Facing the world feeling whole. Having the right to determine one’s future. The story of the conception of Jesus.

The Caution: Uncompromising feminism or chauvinism. Feeling like one has to be responsible for everything. Unrealistic independence. Being left alone and abandoned. Having no one to turn to for support. Being an adult before one’s time. Loss of the mother.

In other words, this is a time of reaching inward for the resources to bring forth what is dwelling inside of yourself. Often with this degree, we have to cope with the idea of being sole parents, or, there's not much support from family or friends or from those you may ordinarily expect support from. The flip side can manifest as feelings of not wanting others to help, no matter what they offer. One can be too self sufficient and do everything themselves. A fine balance needs to be created as some reactions can come from childhood experiences where one's needs were not met or acknowledged.

The Symbol of the Sun shows a struggle of some kind could be going on, and this can Ancient of Days
be on a physical, emotional or spiritual level. Finding equilibrium could be key to finding peace. The Sun is on Taurus 17: A Symbolical Battle Between Swords, The Disciples of Might, And Torches, The Disciples Of Enlightenment. This degree can speak of a battle that goes on inside ourselves, with others, or, it can be the battle of good over evil and light over might. It will be interesting to watch how current scandals, particularly involving Rupert and James Murdoch and News International, pan out. It could be a time of the proverbial stuff hitting the fan and "everyone for themselves".

Keywords: The battle of “might versus light”. The Spear of Destiny. Spiritual differences. Arguments. The story of Hitler. The Inquisition. The Crusades. Bringing love and light to war zones. The pen being mightier than the sword. Peace marches, candles, torches. Weapons.

The Caution: Controlling those around with rational or brute force rather than with inner enlightenment or knowledge. People arguing over ideals. Forcing opinions on each other. Religious conflicts. War rallies. Propaganda.

Pluto, the ruler of this full Moon, is on Capricorn 10: An Albatross Feeding From The Hand Of A Sailor. This is quite a karmic placement, or, at least it can feel very much that way. Simplistically put; it's about feeling the fear and doing it anyway. It can also be about letting God and letting go

Keywords: Feeding one’s higher nature with good nourishment. Banishing worries, so that one can fly ever higher. Overcoming superstitions or beliefs. Travelers who put themselves at risk in foreign lands or cultures. Talking to anybody anywhere. Sharing one’s bounty. Sailors, boats. Birds. Empathy and sympathy for others. Restoring trust and hope.

The Caution: Manipulating events or people with false nourishment. Having alternative motives for wanting to draw others close. Being extremely afraid of strangers or strange situations. The loss of independence.

Harem

Mars is on Virgo 7: A Harem. This adds to the relationship issues that this full Moon is likely to bring up. Perhaps you rely more on having women around you, or, hanging with men. It can be that there's a need for more comrades, or, that you're just one of many that don't stand out from the crowd. There could be a feeling of being invisible, not standing out, not 'special'.

Keywords: Rising above jealousy, arrogance and passion. Waiting to be bestowed with the gift of being “chosen”. Women’s circles, sometimes closed. Women’s groups. Working together. Sharing feminine rituals and stories. Egyptian tales. One person calling the shots. Beauty salons. Seduction of the senses. Having one’s needs serviced. Women pampering each other. People who serve.

The Caution: Being just one of “the mob”. Assuming the right to dominate others or those in less powerful social circumstances. Not having a sense of personal importance. Mistrust of other women. Seeing others as competition. The spread of socially unacceptable diseases. Locked doors. Chauvinism.

Venus is slowing down before going retrograde in mid May. The Symbol is Gemini 23: Three fledglings Three Fledglings In A Nest High Up In A Tree. There is a theme developing here with all of these Symbols. Who do you live with? Who do you share your space with? Do you, or others, have to do everything while others just play or goof off and avoid their responsibilities?

Keywords: Discovering a whole new sense of being. Teaching. Safety. Living in small spaces. Wanting room to move. Privacy. Staying in the ‘Nest’ versus leaving it. Resisting change. Providing room and board for others. Sharing flats and houses. The battle for survival. Being different, therefore breaking the mold. Brothers and sisters. Expecting to be looked after and fed. Growing spirituality.

The Caution: Wanting to leave home before one’s ready. Wondering if one’s needs will be met. Arguments about the pecking order. Psychological immaturity. Feeling dependent on external influences for survival. Feeling trapped by circumstances. Insecurity. Feeling exposed to danger. Co dependence. Not knowing or realizing one’s place. Falling out. Bickering over space.

Mercury is on Aries 25: A Double Promise Reveals It's Inner And Outer Meanings. This is an interesting degree for Mercury to be on on this full Moon. Any 'promises' -things said or expected – could hold more to them than first appears. Particularly as this is Mercury, there could be some 'inner and outer' perspectives that one has to take in what is unfolding. There may be a need to let go of things in your life that take up too much room perhaps, or don't serve you. This is because very soon after the full Moon, Mercury moves onto Aries 26: A Man Possessed Of More Gifts Than He Can Hold. This often shows the need to juggle with possessions, talents, relationships, possibilities, and, it can show not knowing just where to direct one's energy. However, with focus, this can bring about a realization of what is and what isn't possible and one can move on from there. What are your expectations? Are they being fulfilled or has responsibility or lack led to a feeling of not being able to handle all that you've been handling?

White doveJupiter, the planet of abundance and all kinds of good things (including overdoing things in a big way if one is not careful) is on a lovely degree of hope and redemption. The Symbol is Taurus 22: A White Dove Flying Straight And Fearlessly Over Troubled Waters

Keywords: Transcending worries through spiritual awareness. Prophetic missions. Peace. Healing messages brought from the“other side”. Overcoming phobias. Fearlessness. Feelings of immortality. Going straight for the objective. Calming troubled minds.

The Caution: Being too caught up in worries. Not being able to accept that things are getting better or to accept any form of reassurance from others. Not being cautious of risks. Being daunted by an ominous task.

Saturn's message seems to be to take notice of little details or the signs that are around that others may not see. Saturn is on Libra 25: The Sight Of An Autumn Leaf Brings To A Pilgrim The Meaning Of Life And Death. Some people will not even notice the leaf, but the 'Pilgrim' will see any number of messages in the simple thing that draws their attention. Issues of life and what it all means may be on your mind, along with the temporary nature of some things that enter your life or field of vision.

Keywords: Seasonal adjustments. Fleeting inspiration. Seeing things in their own time. Spiritual revelations. Conversations with God. Feeling blessed. The beauty and timelessness of nature. Contacts with nature spirits. Angelic visions. Photography and having a photographic mind. Being here now. Pilgrims and their journeys. The Hadj pilgrimage. Solving problems. Quick and deep minds. Snapshots in time.

The Caution: Focusing on things that have no lasting value or are no longer relevant. Looking for answers in everything, therefore missing out on the big picture that’s right in front of you. Making a big deal out of insignificant or everyday occurrences.

Uranus is on Aries 7: A Persons Successfully Expressing Himself In Two Realms At Once. With Uranus here, one could feel the need to be flexible, versatile or able to move between worlds.

Keywords: Integrating the spiritual with the material. Balancing things. Doing juggling acts. Moving through people’s lives and social stratas. Translations of words and thoughts from one area of life to another. Having separate family situations. Living a dual life. Being adaptable. Moonlighting. Alternate realities. Shifting one's focus when necessary.

The Caution: Fooling yourself that you can be all things to different people, but eventually failing in one or both. Exhaustion through trying to achieve too much. Deception, if allegiances are not clear. Infidelity and fickleness. Scattering of interests with little being achieved. Bigamy. Two-faced. Lies and masquerades.

Neptune's message seems to be one of keeping records and it represents the evidence of things from the past. The Symbol is Pisces 3: A Petrified Forest, An Eternal Record Of A Life Lived Long Ago. Although there are many memories of the past that should be stored, deemed precious or kept for posterity, some need to be thrown out, forgotten and let go of in order to allow space for bigger and better things.

Keywords: Remnants from the past. Stillness. Agelessness. Plastic surgery. Being able to withstand life’s storms. Resilience. Crystals, diamonds, gemstones. Beauty that remains ageless. Wood and lacquered wood. Coal, oil and petrochemicals. Diets. Dependability. Family histories. Keeping records. Amber. Fossils. Geology. Archeology. Ancient remnants. Mental and emotional filing cabinets. Lingering evidence. Petrified wood. Photographs and photography. Stones. Stone monuments.

The Caution: Rigidity, immobility, inflexibility. Being frozen. Not letting go of difficulties. Hanging on for grim death. Feeling stuck or frozen. Destroying things that are old. Severing links to the past. Keeping tabs. Memories that destroy the present.

Playing by the rules of the game is indicated in the Moon's north node on Sagittarius
6: A Game Of Cricket.

Keywords: Stiff upper lip responses. Seeing through the illusions Keep_calm_carry_on_vintage_postcard- of what constitutes “polite society”. Having a role to play in the game of life. Sportsmanship. Being the “batsman” or the “bowler”. Running and playing. Fair play. Impeccable behavior. Moving at will around the field. Scoring runs. Batsmen and bowlers. People in the outfield. Holding the bat. Winning the toss. Opposing teams. Games that go on for day after day. Patience. Summer games. Going by the umpire’s decision.

The Caution: Difficulty in showing one’s true feelings and emotions. Going against the rules of the game. Something that simply “is just not cricket” (fair play). Curve balls. Being caught out.

Getting to the depths of things could be on the agenda with the Moon's south node on Gemini 6: Workmen Drilling For Oil. Plumbing the depths brings things to the surface and the search for riches can be rewarding, but there's that need to go deeply, even if it means going into unfamiliar territory without much of a guide.

Keywords: Pursuit of material or spiritual wealth. Ambition. Trying to get to the bottom of things. Opportunistic attitudes. Making a fortune through other’s resources. Psychoanalysis and psychotherapy. Dream analysis. Explorations, past life or present. Dependence on wealth. Research. Exploring answers. Oil and oil wells. Drills and equipment.

The Caution: Putting a great deal of effort into risky activities for uncertain returns. Unceasing work. Hoping to 'strike it rich'. Neglecting friends and loved ones. Focusing too deeply on a goal. Being opportunistic and looking for the “lucky strike”. Relying on others to come up with the goods. Gold diggers and opportunists.
