I have noticed lately the amazing abundance of videos, messages, books and ideas out there about what is taking place within us.  I don't usually pay too much attention to this, but this last month as I was moving and unpacking I allowed myself to wander…

I read more stuff online then usual and listened to much of the current dialogue out there about our energetic shifts.  I clicked links in emails readers sent me, I watched YouTube videos my friends posted on Facebook.  I attended some conference calls on planetary ascension and the Mayan Calendar.  None of this is my usual mode of being–I'm typically inwardly focused and my reading, study, meditation and all I digest relates to my current passionate pursuit.

This was a very interesting experience, and I learned a lot.  It also left me at times feeling simply dulled.  The reason is–I allowed my focus to be divided in many directions as I did this, and being a powerfully magnetic creator, I drew more and more on lots and lots of topics into my experience.  Instead of being fed, I felt depleted.  Instead of directing my unfolding from within my experience and choosing what I need and want to experience–and drawing this forth–I simply did what I would call "sampling from the buffet."

The problem with this is that what I need and want might not BE there.   And if it is, am I greeting it in a reverent, present fashion so that I will recognize and absorb it's gifts?

Let me explain…

When I was a career coach years ago I remember hearing a great story about being inner directed.  It talked about how we decide where to eat lunch.  So to share this, I ask you to imagine for a minute you and I are on a busy street, on a beautiful day, filled with other beautiful people, full of restaurants and shops.  We're visiting and having a delightful day together and now we're hungry and we're ready to have lunch.  We can look up and down the street, remembering what restaurants we have passed and we choose one that sounds good (sampling from the buffet).

Or, there is another approach.  I might say to you, "What would you like for lunch?"  And after pausing for a moment to listen to yourself you reply, "I'm really feeling like fish and a nice fresh salad."  The first approach might lead us to fish, the second approach means we not only will find fish, but most likely the most wonderful version of it.  We know what feels good next to our eternally new body and we're acting in coherent present moment alignment.  Big difference.

The other interesting thing I discovered about perusing lots of information this last month was my usual joy in my own inner directed reading, study and channeling, writing and reflecting, was also diluted.  The reason?  Width unrelated to depth.  I prefer depth to my experience which typically widens at the perfect time, bringing in related topics based on deepening an original focus.  Although I got a very interesting lay of the landscape–what am I really reading in this viewing?  I am reading a collective reflection of the past of many other points of focus.

My normal way of being is to pursue my own interests and passions, my curiosities and pay attention to what I am curious about.  It always leads me to something wonderful and interesting and I have learned over time to trust this.  Books and things show up but may not be read until much later and then suddenly they make perfect profound serendipitous sense.  I am led to that which deepens and expands my path.  This may mean watching a video or reading something written or channeled by someone else–but it flows forth from my own inspiration, rather then from bumping into it as I consume and snack on the landscape.

For me, I tend to intuitively follow a certain path of learning and go deep and wide within that.  I am drawn naturally to that which speaks to me perfectly and I experience boundless joy and awe regularly as my engaged awareness digests and I integrate new perspective, release ones I now longer need and consciously evolve myself.

I trust that my role as a channel is to be me and allow what is taking place within me, my questions and sense of things to give focus and collaboration to the field to which I connect.  To trust that my path will resonate with others with whom I am intended to share and collaborate.  The more true and trusting I am in relationship to this, the more I find my work resonates with others.

Like the very old lesson often taught in writing classes–specificity matters.  The more specific you make things in writing, oddly the more universal they become.  The same is true with each of us.  The more we allow the quirky, amazing diversity we are to form and shape our pathways, the more our pathways can liberate us into Unity and Joy and shine a bright light of clarified wholeness to anyone who might be ready to chime in and vibe in sync with this amazing love-field we're being and becoming.

If you'd like to try this, I suggest you limit yourself to thinking about what interests you.  Period.  You don't worry about what other people are learning about or doing on their path of Lightwork and whether or not you know all the right things, you instead, yet again–trust yourself.  The things you personally need to be all you can be, will come forth and although the path may seem unconventional or divergent–it's your amazing path and it's the right path for your life.

This doesn't mean that you don't allow yourself to interact with the world and all it presents–but it does mean you bring your standards to the game.  For me the easiest way to do this is to use resonance as a criteria for allowing something in.  If I've kept my focus within me and upon that which is drawing forth from my own connections, then when I run into something relevant, I get a buzz, it feels right, I am inexplicably drawn to it–this is how resonance shows up for me.  There is a like-vibe and I sense it and I go right in.

To focus your experiment with this, let yourself give in to that thing that seems really interesting to you right now and let go of paying attention to things that don't interest you.  That alone can be an superb feel-good experience!

Now, what interests you might seem spiritual–like auric energy or opening your heart chakra more–or it might be home decorating or organizing your kitchen better.  Don't worry–trust it.

Then allow this interest, this curiosity to be your focus.  Ponder this subject as much as you want.  Reflect on it as you go to sleep, for example.  Ask for what you want in regards to it.  Explore your curiosity and see where it leads you.  Intend for greater understanding, to be led to that which makes meaning and joy–or whatever are your desired experiences–emerge from this interest.

Expand into something that suits you right now.  Go deep within yourself using your interest as a path to full presence and allowing your attention to go where it wants to go.  Don't worry if it doesn't immediately fit into your life in an obvious way or make sense.  Sometimes it won't.

Limit what you digest energetically to that which you draw to yourself  and what you resonate with in terms of your own choice and standards, rather then feeling you have to read, experience and process everything that comes your way or everything that resonates with everyone else.

It's a great way to live.  SO easy to just trust that everything you need will come to you in divine timing and in a way that's fun for you.  Why not?

Be YOU.  The river of your energy will clarify and be uplifted, and so will you.  And then, beautifully and simultaneously without any effort whatsoever, you uplift everything that is.  Nice how that works, isn't it?
